Answered Prayer & Preparing a Place

For years we have been praying that Lucy would be loved on by her nannies or her foster mom.  I believe that prayer was answered today.  When we arrived in Zhengzhou, we received more details about Lucy – like what time she usually wakes up, when she goes down at night, preferred food and drinks, etc.  But the answer to our prayers read like this:

She will look in the mirror when the foster mom combs her hair.  If we ask her, “Who is the most beautiful girl?”, she will point to herself.  And she likes to be dressed pretty.

This brought tears to my eyes.  It makes me think that her foster mom truly has been loving on our daughter now for the past 11 months.  Lucy has been treasured in this family.  There were other nice things to read about Lucy on this paper but this is that statement that struck my heart.  It is my prayer that Lucy always sees herself as beautiful – that she is God’s precious creation.  And now my heart is bursting with thankfulness towards her foster family and to God.

Later today our travel group (now at a huge 17 families) walked to the local Walmart to stock up on diapers, formula & the Chinese snacks our kiddos have likely enjoyed for their first couple years of life.  Between organizing all of that, taking her clothes, her toys and the American snacks we brought over for her out of our suitcases and arranging her crib, I was reminded of this verse as we were preparing her place:

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. – John 14:3

Certainly, our Savior’s promise in this verse is far, far more in every way, shape and form – but Chuck and I have now prepared a place for our Lucy. And I believe it is because so many have been praying for us that we are feeling very much at peace now that we are so close to our daughter. Please do continue to lift us up on prayer.  Around 8pm CDT, Sunday night (while many of you are watching the Super Bowl), we will be loving on our Lucy for the very first time…celebrating our first Forever Family day!

What a joy to see His provision in this report! Thank you, Father! Beautiful thoughts on Jn. 14:3…His promises will be reflected today and are made more fully known through Lucy’s life. Praise the Lord!
